The Marco Über Boiler

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

This will probably end up being quite a long post, and sorry for being a bit cryptic on here the other day.  I want to explain the history of this little project, and give credit where it is due.

This morning I got up early to fly over to Dublin, to the CatEx show there.  Apart from catching up with Stephen, and lots of other lovely coffee people, and catching a little of the Irish Barista Championship, I was really there to see the guys at Marco and the new machine they had on their stand.

New Slayer Espresso machine

I posted about it in the predictions round up post, and judging from the number of clickthroughs it seemed many people hadn’t been aware of the project.

After Nick Cho posted a spy photo on coffeed, it seems to have pushed them into post pics of the machine themselves.

I’m very excited!

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Got a phone call this evening about a little machinery project that we embarked upon with Marco, telling me that they will be debuting the machine at CatEx – Ireland’s HORECA tradeshow – between the 9th and 11th of February.  It was an idea we had that they agree to R&D, and the data coming back from testing was impressive.

At the moment I still can’t give much away, it is nothing to do with espresso, it isn’t a coffee brewer either but I hope it will be great.  I have yet to see a finished unit, and I gather the aesthetic side is still quite open.  I’ll likely be heading over on the 1oth for a quick play with it, and to make coffee for people at the show and to talk about the project a little more.
