[...] I think you get the picture. There is a wider world of coffee out there and just like everything in life, it remains hidden unless you set out after it. That’s what I’d like you to try, nevermind coffee. If you read this and think ‘hey, I’m missing out on some amazing things’ and then take action, I did my job. Also, short of a life-changing epiphany, if you order a pound from Cosmo’s site and try out Montage instead of your local coffee-factory (who will remain unnamed) I’ll be happy as well. Thanks for reading friends, look for an in depth post on Montage as well as Cosmo’s roasting process. Here’s some tips for developing your coffee palate. [...]

Hey thanks for completely simplifying the tasting process. Even my staff read it and got the point, which is much better than the blank stares I get when I try to explain it (must be my comic timing). Sometimes simple gets so much more done. And one more thing, being from Singapore (Asia) we all tend to have pretty off-beat references like rambutan, jackfruit, herbal teas and chinese cough syrups!

This is a great guide for the beginning taster. You did a good job of breaking down some of the key parts.

I also think it is so key to use whatever language you are most comfortable with. And to those who are new to this - Don't let language or lack of knowledge on the subject intimidate you. Coffee tasting is for everyone NOT just the connoisseur. Trust yourself and what you taste and think about the coffee even if that means you think it smells like dirty gym socks and tastes like ash tray with cigarette butts in it. (believe me I have tasted coffee that has tasted exactly like that.) It suppose to be fun and to help you find the coffee that is perfect for you!

Good Article!

I don't think it really matters. Any decent 3 cup model should be fine - I think that is about as small as they go. On a side note I have no idea how big the "cups" are they reference for cafetiere sizings...
