I saw that exhibition in Rome a while back. Without much debate, Sebastio Salgado other than James Nachtwey is the most important living photojournalist. He shoots only bw film Tri X and the grain that seems to age the prints is just the way he shoots and develops and creates his print. In the digital age we just have "noise" in our images, but grain has its own beautiful aesthetic. I agree, color is beautiful, but I will take Salgado's images any day over most color photographers.
