Coffee
Weird symptoms
Working a show for a customer the other day and the espresso just wasn’t right.
Dose was ok, coffee was fresh, machine temp was fine, tamping was alright but the drink tasted thin (lots of crema) and the puck was knocking out in pieces. Not a sloppy mud but just kind of shattering and not staying together.
Took me longer than it should to notice the machine was brewing at 6.5 bar. They’d taken it off the mains and put it on a bottle without adjusting it.
A quick twist of a spanner later and wahey! Its all ok again. Interesting symptoms - that make sense when you think about it.
You learn something new every day!
